Chris Riehm is a photographer based in the Atlanta area, working in near-infrared since 2016. The photographs are made on full-spectrum converted cameras filtered to infrared bands — light that is present in every scene and visible in none of them. Vegetation returns the strongest signal, so the living parts of a landscape ignite while rock, glass, and concrete hold still.
The through-line is rendering the invisible: choosing a signal the eye cannot sense, carrying the instrument that can, and developing what it returns until it reads as a place you could stand.
